"The wallpaper installations reference the history and popular culture of wall papers in England. The ‘pub wallpapers’ dedicated to a particular leitmotif- the artist’s drinking haunts in her home town of Reading, are a homage to the fabulously grotesque wallpapers that grace the walls of these establishments. The labour-intensive process of hand-painting each repeat motif, is both an obsessive and cathartic act, an attempt to exorcise the ghosts of memories that are held within each building."

Deepa Bhandari - FosterArt
